Vaccinations for Your Pet

Protecting Your Pet’s Health from Day One

Vaccinations are one of the most important ways to protect your pet from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. At Attadale Veterinary Hospital, we offer comprehensive vaccination programs designed to keep your puppy, kitten, and adult pets healthy throughout their lives.

Why Vaccinate?

Vaccines stimulate your pet’s immune system to fight off infectious diseases before they can cause illness. By vaccinating your pet, you help:

  • Protect your pet from contagious diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, and feline leukemia

  • Prevent the spread of diseases to other pets in the community

  • Ensure your pet meets legal and boarding requirements

  • Provide peace of mind that your pet has the best protection possible

Puppy Vaccination Schedule

Puppies have immature immune systems and need a series of vaccinations to build strong, lasting protection. Our typical puppy vaccine schedule includes:

  • 6 to 8 weeks: First vaccination (usually includes protection against canine parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, and parainfluenza)

  • 10 to 12 weeks: Second vaccination (booster to strengthen immunity)

  • 14 to 16 weeks: Third vaccination (final puppy booster)

  • 12 months: Annual booster to maintain immunity

Additional vaccines may be recommended based on your puppy’s lifestyle and risk factors, such as Bordetella (kennel cough), leptospirosis, or Lyme disease.

Kitten Vaccination Schedule

Kittens also require a series of vaccinations to protect them as they grow. Our typical kitten vaccine schedule includes:

  • 6 to 8 weeks: First vaccination (protection against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia)

  • 10 to 12 weeks: Second vaccination (booster dose)

  • 14 to 16 weeks: Third vaccination (final kitten booster, including optional feline leukemia vaccine if needed)

  • 12 months: Annual booster to maintain protection

Your kitten’s risk of exposure will guide any additional vaccine recommendations.

Adult Pet Vaccination

If you adopt an adult pet or have missed vaccinations, we can assess your pet’s vaccination history and design a catch-up or ongoing vaccine plan. Regular boosters are important to maintain immunity and prevent disease.
